Material: There are only three of importance: silk, wool and cotton. Goat’s hair is used by Baluchi tribes for the selvedges of some of their rugs. Camel’s hair is hardly ever encountered. Of the three standard materials, silk is the most expensive. Rugs made with it are sumptuary product appropriate for wall decorations, table covers and such like. Todays, Qom carpets are made by silk totally. Tabriz and Isfahan usually have silk and fine wool. By the large, cotton and wool are the materials from which carpets are made.
